Supporting Salford City Roosters for the Community Wellbeing Hub Project
Salford City Roosters (a rugby club in Salford) joined forces with City of Trees (an organisation we work with regularly) to plant trees to increase the greenery at their club and heighten their social value for the local community, players, and staff.
Who are City Of Trees?
City of Trees plant trees, look after trees and promote a culture of trees across Greater Manchester. They are a City of Trees– trees to create better, greener places; to boost health and wellbeing; to enhance green skills; and to tackle the climate and biodiversity emergency. City of Trees are rooted here in Greater Manchester and are passionate about making the region even better, one tree at a time.
At UBU, we have an on-going relationship with City Of Trees; we regularly donate our recovered soil to them which is used to plant trees. We also aid with funds to help their mission to create better and greener environments for the citizens of Greater Manchester.
Our Involvement on this Project:
We supported the venture by donating 5 and a half tonnes of soil recovered through our bespoke waste treatment plant which was needed to create the right conditions for planting trees in. Over time, through the soil will emerge 10 cherry trees to form an avenue along the boundary of the rugby club pitches. They will provide an important early food source in the form of nectar and pollen for bees and other pollinators.
