UBU Annual Charity Donations

At UBU Environmental Limited, we are committed to making a positive impact beyond our day-to-day operations. Through our social value commitments, we are proud to support charities and initiatives that help strengthen our local communities, protect the environment, and support those who need it most.
City of Trees
Recently, UBU Environmental Limited have chosen to support ‘The City of Trees Trust’ as one of our chosen charities this year. City of Trees is an ambitious initiative aiming to plant 3 million trees across Greater Manchester and beyond. Our donation will be used to focus on schemes supporting the Bury and Salford communities in line with our social value commitment. Our support helps improve air quality, create habitats for wildlife, cool down cities and towns, alleviate the risk of flooding and engage local communities through hands-on environmental training and volunteering which helps boost mental wellbeing. Last year our donation helped plant 1,795 trees across seven new sites in Bury and Salford, making a lasting impact on the local environment. This year there is a target to achieve similar, with the intention to plant and maintain around 1000 trees ranging from various species’ including: aspen, crab apple, downy birch, elder, guelder rose, hawthorn, hazel, holly, pedunculate oak, rowan, sessile oak, silver birch and wild cherry.
Alex Bedford, Head of Partnerships at City of Trees said: “Your funding allows us to not only plant the trees themselves but to help offer out volunteering opportunities for individuals to come along and learn about the natural environment and get involved in combatting the climate emergency. These events are free to attend and we provide all the training and equipment needed for people to simply come down, take part and feel connected to their local green spaces.”
PKD Charity
UBU are proud to stand alongside the PKD Charity – a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by Polycystic Kidney Disease, an incurable condition that affects around 70,000 people across the UK. Our support helps raise awareness while supporting the incredible work they do for patients and families in the UK.
Since its formation in 2000, the charity has invested in groundbreaking research to develop new treatments to slow the progression of PKD, reduce pain and work towards a future where dialysis and kidney transplants are no longer the norm.
Alongside funding research, PKD Charity provides support groups, events and trusted resources, helping individuals and families access information, emotional support and a strong community throughout their journey.
The Shed
UBU are proud to support The Shed. The Shed are a Salford-based initiative run by Salford Foundation. They offer a supportive space for socially isolated men in Salford, who may be tackling unemployment, loneliness and or mental health challenges. Through our support, UBU help stock the ‘Pantry’ with essential supplies, providing quick, easy and accessible meals along with hygiene essentials.
